Clinical Governance
AI Supports Clinical Judgment. It Doesn’t Replace It.
Biomarks.ai helps healthcare practitioners create and use health assessments, collect patient-generated health information and apply AI to make that information easier to understand. Technology can improve healthcare workflows. It should not remove clinical responsibility.
Clinicians Remain Clinicians
Biomarks is designed as a tool that can support healthcare professionals. A clinician using Biomarks remains responsible for applying their professional knowledge, experience and judgment when assessing a patient, interpreting information or making decisions about care. AI-generated summaries, assessment results, scores and other Biomarks outputs should be considered alongside the broader clinical picture.
Assessment Templates
Biomarks provides pre-made assessment templates that can help clinicians avoid starting every assessment from scratch. Clinicians can use existing questions, edit or remove questions, add their own questions and customize assessments for particular patients or clinical circumstances. A template is a starting point, not a replacement for professional judgment.
AI Evaluation
Where enabled, Biomarks can use AI to evaluate assessment responses and help generate summaries, identify patterns or surface information for consideration. These outputs may assist clinicians in reviewing information more efficiently. They should not automatically be interpreted as a diagnosis.
Red Flags
Certain assessments may be configured to highlight responses, thresholds or information requiring attention. A red flag means that information may warrant further consideration. It does not necessarily mean a person has a particular condition or requires a particular treatment.
Assessment Development
As the Biomarks assessment library grows, we intend to strengthen processes around assessment development, review, versioning, evidence, feedback and changes to clinical logic.
Different assessments may require different levels of clinical oversight depending on their purpose and potential impact.
Clinical Evidence
Where assessments are based on established clinical instruments, published research or recognized health measures, Biomarks aims to appropriately identify the basis of the assessment where relevant. Where Biomarks creates proprietary wellness or health intelligence measures, we should distinguish those measures from independently validated diagnostic instruments.
Feedback and Safety
Healthcare practitioners and users can help us identify unclear questions, inappropriate outputs, potential errors or opportunities to improve assessments. Clinical safety is an ongoing process rather than a one-time review.
Not Emergency Medical Care
Biomarks.ai is not an emergency medical service. If a patient or individual may require urgent medical attention, they should contact an appropriate healthcare professional or emergency service rather than relying on Biomarks. Better technology should strengthen clinical judgment, not attempt to replace it.
